SQL Developers

What it is about?

  • Participation on one or more project activities/areas or releases or production support or testing of functionalities. Overall participation in the whole development cycle in a specific SQL developer role with analytical aspiration
  • Becoming a specialist on application with heavy DB logic of view as well as knowledge base on the application business processes
  • Delivering specifications for small changes/features to target solution that internal customers require
  • Finding root cause of PROD incidents or other bugs
  • Analyzing/Optimization/Refactoring of current DB procedures, their debugging and reverse engineering documentation
  • Supporting data migration between systems
  • Creating rules for production data transfer between systems
  • End user support and cooperation on tasks with Business Analyst L1, IT Business Analyst L2, Specialized roles such as Actuaries, Process Analysts, BI Analysts, Claim Adjusters
  • Daily communication and interactions with Development team L3
  • Support daily run activities and incidents in CEE region (CZ,SK,AT,HU,RO,BG,ES) from our SharedServiceCentre in Prague
  • Follow given methodology of the development, system integration and implementation of new applications and changes
  • Propose changes in Information Systems in reactive and proactive mode
  • Datafixing and Reporting
  • Participation on mitigation of technological debt
  • Configuring setup of application to target solution that would suit business needs of country

What we use?

  • Target solution is a set of two client-server, back-office applications (with some peripherals) built mainly with Microsoft technologies (MSSQL, C#, .NET)
  • Confluence as knowledge base
  • Azure DevOps for tracking user stories and issues
  • Enterprise Architect
  • Office 365 suite How we work?
  • If it makes sense, we go for it our methodology is neither Waterfall, nor Agile, but the best from both
  • Matrix organization structure you report to either to project manager or to team leader based on current assignment; there are both project and other team meetings
  • Entire SDLC is run in-house there are analytical, development, testing, operations, maintenance, and supporting teams (mix of internal and external employees)
  • As elsewhere, we’ve realized need of documentation just recently, so some system parts are pretty opened to be explored
  • But now we’re focused on all aspects of deliverables – it’s OK to spend longer on tasks if it is because of creating more pieces of documentation
  • Currently communication within the region is done remotely and most likely is going to stay that way
  • We respect business SLAs and we try to deliver solutions ASAP yet only within standard business hours 

What we expect?

  • Ability to gain knowledge about our system and its functionality
  • Asking questions to understand what end-user needs in order to tailor solution based on frequency and volume, so that we’re not overwhelmed by competing requests of our customers
  • Creativity in finding alternative solutions (change current processes to what system already allows)
  • Improving current status quo
  • Spoken and written English and Czech/Slovak
  • Decent technical background (T-SQL, UML)
  • Knowledge of datafixing and processes behind it
  • Knowledge/interest in L2/L3 support of incidents – advantage
  • Knowledge and orientation in .xml, .xsd, xslt files – advantage
  • Ability to describe and analyze root cause of bugs in applications in cooperation with other team members or alone
  • Responsibility on given tasks
  • Good communication skills, not being afraid to ask or to help others
  • Systematical work in process oriented company with willingness to deliver what is requested
